Objective

I can tell how AI gives ideas to help people, and I know that people think and choose. AI does not tell us what to do.

Materials

Mini-lesson — AI gives ideas, not commands

AI can suggest many things:

  • ideas for books to read
  • choices for songs
  • ways to solve a puzzle
  • directions on a map

AI does not make the final choice

  • AI is a tool, like a calculator or map.
  • It can help us think, but it cannot know everything.
  • People decide what is safe, kind, or correct.

AI does not know your feelings

  • It does not know when you are sad.
  • It does not know when something is too hard.
  • It only looks at words and patterns.

People stay in charge

  • We check choices with trusted adults.
  • We follow family rules.
  • If something feels wrong, we stop and ask.

Adults can say: "AI can give us ideas, but people choose. We think, we check, and we decide what is safe."

Guided Practice — Talk about AI suggestions

Choose a simple example of AI giving ideas (songs, stories, routes).

  1. Ask: "What idea did the AI give?"
  2. Ask: "Do we have to choose this?"
  3. Say: "AI gives ideas. We choose."

Practice — My AI idea & my choice

Help your child see the difference between an AI idea and the choice the child makes.

  1. Draw something AI might suggest (a game, a book, a place).
  2. Under it, write: "AI idea:" and describe the suggestion.
  3. Next, write: "My choice:" and let the child choose something.
  4. S ay together: "AI gives ideas. People choose."
