Mission Briefing — Count up & down to 100

In this mission, you will practice counting forward (up) and backward (down) between 0 and 100. You will use a hundred chart and a number line.

Count forward (up)

  • Numbers get bigger.
  • You move to the right on the number line.

Count backward (down)

  • Numbers get smaller.
  • You move to the left on the number line.

Hundred chart tip

  • Go across = count by 1.
  • Go down = jump by 10.

Say the numbers out loud and point carefully so you do not skip any numbers.

Training Run — Counting on and back with real objects

Tap to play and pause.

Count a few small objects one by one, touching each as you say the number. Now point to a number like twenty on your chart and count forward, then backward. Take your time and repeat it once more. When you’re ready, open the tracing pad and write one number you counted. Try another number after that. Say each number as you write it.
